Hypnotherapy is the term given to the use of hypnosis as part of a therapy session for change.
Neuro Linguistic Programming is a system of therapy that specializes in Unconscious processes and reprogamming auto responsese to external and internal stimuli.
Hypnotherapy and NLP utilize communication to the unconscious (or automatic aspect) of beleifs, behaviors and attitudes to create a change in the way a personal naturally thinks, feels and acts. These methods are powerful and typically produce lasting results in as little as 3-5 sessions.

What can be expected at a Hypnotherapy session? |
Therapist's who use Hypnosis as part of their therapy, usually aim to have the experience be very relaxing for the client.
At the first session, the therapist and client discuss the purpose of the visit, (stop smoking, weight loss, confidence, self esteem, procrastination etc) and the therapist will ask specific questions aimed at eliciting the way in which each client maps out there world view and how they operate within it. The client then recieves a detailed explaination of what hypnosis is and is not, and any concerns are addressed. A hypnotic induction is preformed with the major areas of concern of the client addressed.
At the second session, a recap of the expereinces after the first session is obtained, and any new concerns and/or progress which presents itself at a mental of behavioral area are noted. A second hypnotherapy session with more personalized details is conducted, along with teaching self hypnosis and affirmations for specific needs.
The third and usually final session is a booster shot of the results being obtained and addressing of any areas that significant results are not being noticed. The client is taught how to deepend their own self hypnosis expereince and
What can Hypnosis be used for? |
Hypnotherapy is generally used to change or create Attitudes, Beliefs and Behaviors, so covers a wide variety of issues and situations. Hypnosis deals in the realm of the Sub Conscious mind which is defined as anything not in your conscious awareness at any point in time. For example you are forming the sounds of the words that you are reading with your sub conscious mind. You are automatically (or Sub Consciously) recognizing each letter, and the word it forms, then finding a reference within your experience to form meaning from what you are reading. As these words form meaning for you, you might hear them in your mind and become for that moment consciously aware of what is otherwise bits of light from a computer screen.
It is often said that the subconscious mind is like a computer. It does not know right or wrong, good or bad - it just runs programs. The programs (behaviors/beliefs/attitudes) come from many sources but perhaps the most common source is by what you 'think'. It is generally accepted by Subconscious Mind therapists that the sub conscious wants to give you what you want. It knows what you want by the kinds and types of thoughts you have. HOWEVER, most of the time our thoughts are random and negative, often we think about what we don't want - rather than what we do want. The subconscious then goes about creating our thoughts, feelings, beliefs and attitudes, based on our automatic and often unconscious thinking. (Remember you are thinking ALL the time, but we seldom pay attention to what we are thinking)
Hypnosis allows for quick
change by focusing our minds on what we want, and communicating
that to the subconscious in a way that it understands AND in a way that is accessible to the unconscious mind. Thinking
of your subconscious like a computer again. The mind will
only run the programs that you have. You may want to adopt
a different belief attitude or behavior but until you actually
install a new program you will often fail. It is exactly like
you wanting to use the computer to create a database, but
you only have software for a word processor. You have great
intentions, you know what you want, but the computer won't
do it for you. Hypnosis is alot like installing new programs
that you want to have rather than the ones that have been
put in there but accident, society, experience or other people.
